My research has shown that my great-grandmother, Mary Jane James, was the granddaughter of James James (b.1795) of Cardinganshire, England and Mary Davis (b.1791) of Slanthemi, South Wales; and William Richards (b.25 Feb 1798) of Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorganshire, Wales and Harriet Jones (b.1805) of Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorganshire, Wales. William Richards (b.1798) is the son of William Richards (b.1779) Penbroke Whire Wales and Mary Richards (b.1781) Penbroke Shire, Wales. Harriet Jones (b.1805) is the daughter of Llewelyn Jones (b.1780 Maath, Glamorgan, Wales and Rachel (b.1780 Math, Glamorgan, Wales.
(An interesting fact I found was that my father, Willard Thompson Armstrong was a carpenters mate on board the USS Sutton, the destroyer excort that brought the German U-Boat U-234 (Nemesis)in to Portsmouth, NH, at the end of WWII. The German submarine contained uranium being sent to Japan. Lt. David K Gottlieb, USNR, of Davenport, Iowa, executive officer, led a bording party aboard the U-boat where he found the military mission including Gen. Der Flieger Ulrich Kessler of the Luftwaffe complete with monocle on board.)
