These families came together in 1921 as my Mother named Christina MacArthur came to New Jersey from Dumbarton, Scotland. My mother Christina travelled with her Aunt Janet Anderson Melville and some cousins on the ship Columbia. They arrived via boat in New York City. In 1923 my Grandmother, Christina Anderson MacArthur travelled on the same boat via NYC from Glasgow with her 13 year old son, William, and her daughter Jean McKinney MacArthur. They settled in a small town in New Jersey named Kearny. It was about three miles long and three miles wide. But the town owned a huge area of undeveloped land alongside the town stretching for many miles. It was very valuable and supported the small town well. There were many Scottish Immigrants there including my father to be named Richard Dunsmore Arnott. He travelled on the Columbia with my Grandmother , Uncle and Aunt. Through them he met my mother who was unmarried and they were wed on January 1, 1925. I followed in December 28,1925/. That is the beginning of the story.
