The Arnot(t)s of Saltcoats and Paisley

Updated March 29, 2011

About Our Family Research

Arnot(t) and its variants is not a common name but seems to derive from Fife and its environs in Scotland in the 13th century. It appears that it gradually spread from that area across the midland valley and lowlands to the coast of Ayrshire.

As a project for my offspring, my siblings and their offspring, I am seeking to identify my family (and related families') history.

Related families are: grandparents: Weirs of Antrim and Renfrew; Smiths of Terling, Essex; & Middletons of Terling, Essex; Spouse's grandparents: Prydes of Tayport, Fife; MacFarlanes of Dundee, Angus; Framptons of Hampstead, London; and Addelsees of London and Lincolnshire.

It is still early days, but I have made extensive inroads on some lines but welcome any contacts relating to these families.
