The Ward Family of Dothan AL

Updated August 1, 2002

About Our Family Research

The Ward Family ancestry has been traced to a small county in Headland, Alabama. The tree for this African-American family dates as far back as 1831. According to the 1900 census, Mr. Green Ward a farmer, married Jane and had 11 children; 3 boys and 8 girls. The first generation of Descendants from Green Ward have been posted to the Geneology.com web site

Decendants of John, Alexander, Molten, and Seletie Ward relocated to the North and settled in parts of New Jersey and New York. The other children remained in Alabama and continue to have a strong contingent of family members in the southern states.

The Ward Family tree was initiated by Shadie and Letitia, decendants of Savannah Ward, during a 1993 reunion in Dothan Alabama. The tree has been maintained by Pheon K. Arvin, a decendant of John Ward. .
