The Medlands of Devon

Most of my ancestors were born and lived in Paignton in Devon. We (my brother and I) have a lot of names and were having to find a new way of doing a family tree. Lining paper doesn't seem to be of any use now. We have managed to trace right back to 1754 where the trail turns cold for us. The only Medlands in the Devon region seem to be in Exbourne, Teignmouth, Starcross and a couple other places. We spend most Fridays at the Devon Records Office and the West Country Studies Library. Always a useful place and the staff are great. We have found a third cousin in New Zealand which was great, but closer to home we have found a cousin of our fathers living in Kingsbridge. This is really good as we are definitely able to talk to her on the telephone.
The CWGC web site I have found to be very useful and when you have printed out the certificates they are quite nice to hold on to. So far in WWI I have found two uncles who died at the end of the war. WWII so far I have found another relation who died at the age of 30. I intend to go back into that site and try to find some more.
If anyone can help me at all with the name Medland I would be very grateful.
