I am African-American and want to locate my mothers side of the family--first and foremost. My mother was (Nora Cunningham) was born Mary Payton (1880) in South Carolina. She married a Ruben or Rube Cunningham. He died of influenza. I believe my grandfather was mixed with Irish. They lived in Lancaster, SC. My grandmother was a Mid-wife. Her children -that I know of were: Nora, Sammie, Missie, Creola, and Richard. All of my grandmother's children could read and write. They later moved on to Charlotte, NC. and lived in a place called Second Ward. My oldest brother Jack Cunningham was born (11/24/24) in Charlotte, also my oldest sister Mary Louise (born 03/24/37). I remember my mother telling me that she worked for the Piggly Wiggly Company. The family left Charlotte and moved to Greensboro, NC. I was born there-also Judie Ann and James,Jr. My mother married James Belton of Kershaw, SC. I need to find my mother's people. It is my quest. Please help me locate them.
