My Mom's family was truly a cast of thousands. Italians....Sunday afternoon was spent at Uncle Pat's house with his not so nice second wife. Name purposely forgotten. The aroma of true northern Italian cooking permeated the kitchen, while everyone talked at one time. Dinner commenced at 1:00 and ended around 8 in the evening. The table was filled with aromatic Italian cuisine. An 8 course meal....antipasta, spaghetti & meatballs, eggplant parmigiana, chicken cacciatore, bracciole & an array of other delicacies.

In those early years, I remember feeling embarrassed about my Italian heritage.....who are these people I remember thinking. Only later, with greater age & maturity was I able to truly recognize the wonder of my Italian heritage. Passionate people are emotional..and such was my family.
