Les AuCoin is a retired, nine-term U.S. Congressman from Oregon, (serving from 1975-1992) and Oregon State Representative (1971-1974). He is currently a college professor and writer and makes his home with his wife Susan in Southwestern Oregon. His side of the AuCoin family traces roots across Portland, Maine; Tenant's Harbor, Maine; Halifax, Nova Scotia; Arichat, Nova Scotia; Portland, Oregon; Cour d' Alene, Idaho; and Alaska. His father's family dispersed after the death of the mother in childbirth in 1916.
