My great grandparents were James Otey and Peggy Booth Otey.My great grandfather was a slave,must likely brought here from Africa,it is believed he was owned by Issac Otey.Thier son Andrew was my grandfather.He was married to Mary Braxton Otey.They had 5 children,William,James,Florence,Marion Alberta(my mother)and Iola Otey Boyd.Iola Boyd is still alive and resides in New York.After slavery ended in New Kent County,Virginia a lot of the free slave Otey's left New Kent County and migrating to other states and maybe even other countries,so we are everywhere.There was a big family reunion last year,I was not able to intend,but I still through Face book managed to connect to a lot of family in other states.Any one who wishes to contact me may do so at i.abdulsalaam@ymail.com
