Welcome to AyalaTree

AyalaTree traces the history of an Ayala Family that started in Alta California around 1774 with Jose Calixto Ayala.
Jose was an 11 or 12 year old boy from the area called Real De Cozala, Sinaloa Mexico. He traveled with an expedition to the Santa Barbara Area. Jose Calixto was present at the founding of
Santa Barbara Presidio and the Santa Barbara Mission.
In his earlier years he was a "Soldado de Cuera" (Leather jacket soldier) at the Presidio
