Son Alfred is living next door.Thomas Jefferson Loper's oriuginal surname was Bailey. He was adopted by the Loper family after his parents died (rumor is they were killed by Indians). He and his Brother (Joseph Bailey) married Sisters. He is buried in Greenup Co KYLoper Aldridge Cemetary (see records under Baileys)

I too have heard about the Baily name. My Aunt said the story she heard was the Baily family was on a wagon train. Everyone was killed by an Indian Raid. The Loper family came upon it and a boy baby was still alive. They adopted him and renamed him Loper
