Gen.Register, Exeter Town Council Records, p.82:Whereas Comfort Baker late of Exeter deceased who departed this life 6 Nov.1749 died intestate and left issue only one daughter named Mary who appeared and desired that Benoni Hall might be her guardian and take administration of the estate left by her deceased father. Ordered that Benoni Hall have Let Adm Est Comfort Baker he to take the estate into his care this council judging that the said Mary not capable to care for herself. p.83: Capt Simon Smith & Benoni Gardner appointed to take an inventory of the estate of Comfort Baker late deceased. Ebenezer Hamblin (very faint writing) to have a certificate---- for him, his wife, and family. TC Ex 27 Nov 1749. Benoni Hall Administrator of the Estate of Comfort Baker, late of Exeter deceased, declared that he had all the estate of Comfort Baker deceased to Benoni Gardner and Capt Simon Smith who took the inventory p. 84.
