Charles Edward Cheverton Ball was born 3 Feb 1897 in St Pauls Vicarage Penn Wolverhampton, and died 1960 in 73 Longknowle Lane Wednesfield West Midlands. He married Harriet Day.
Notes for Charles Edward Cheverton Ball: Aunt Nance (Anne Thomas) reckoned that Grandad was born in St Pauls Terrace, alongside the old St Pauls church at the corner of Church Lane and Penn Rd. She would sit with him at a public house around the back of St Pauls, 'The Swan with two necks' in Little Paul St where she would have to hold his dog 'Monty' the great dane whilst he got the beer. Dad reckoned that grandad was part-blinded by mustard gas in the first world war whilst serving in the trenches. He was possibly of Irish descent. Grandad was responsible for registering the births of both Eric and Victoria Ball. Rumour has it that Victoria, being born 8th May, VE Day was to have been named Victoria Elizabeth but grandad got confused and named her Victoria Jean after VJ day. Eric was always told that his full name was 'Eric Thomas Ball' and only found out aged 38 that he had been registered (again by grandad) only Eric Ball.
