I just started to update and make a few corrections to an older page located at FamilyTreeMaker adding lots on new info I have found since 2000, when I last updated the site. I am working on that right now, case the info you are lookink for is not here yet, came back soon or send me an e-mail and I'll be glad to share what I have.
Here you will find a couple of books. The info each of them contains is not repeated in the others. These families connect just in very late times. Most of the books have ancestor and descendant reports with plenty of notes and some pics.
One Book is about a Holland Family from Lincoln County, North Carolina. This is the family of Leroy Chalmers Holland, the paternal grandfather of my maternal grandfather. When fourteen years old, after the Civil War, he emmigrated to Brazil with his mother and siblings. Other major families in this book are Wilson, Baird, Wray, Jordan, Gullick, Moore and Wylie
Other Book is about the Steagall family, the one of the wife of Leroy, Cynthia Margareth Steagall, daughter of Henry Farrar Steagall. Originally they lived at Granville County, North Carolina, later they moved to Weakley, Tennessee and Gonzales, Texas. Finally, after the Civil War, Henry also moved to Brazil with all his children, wife and mother. Spite named as a Steagall Family, this book talks much more about other families than about Steagall for unfortunately we soon hit a brickwall on this line. Other major families are Peck, Crawford, Bobbitt, Turner, Bowdoin, Jefferson and Farrar.
A third book is about the ancestors of Rita Xavier da Silveira. She was the Brazilian wife of the son of Leroy and Cynthia, the mother of my maternal grandfather. Her family is one of the oldest in Brazil, reaching the first settlers in 1530. Here, in this book, the text is mostly Portuguese Language.
The next book is abou the Cera family of my maternal grandmother. They were Italians from Padova area and emigrated to Brazil about 1870. This is a descendant report for so far we do not know much about them in Italy.
There are also two books about my paternal ancestors. These are writen also in Portuguese. All came to Brazil from Portugal around the turn of Century XIX to XX.
One Book is about my Parternal grandfather's family. They always lived at Aveiro and Cacia Areas in Portugal. Familyes named are Baptista, Marques, Pereira, Dias, Rodrigues, Pinho, Fernandes and Cruz.
The last book is about my paternal grandmother's family, from Tras-os-Montes - Mogadouro Area - in Portugal. Major families names are Pires, Affonso, Mesquita, Lopes, Garcia, Cordeiro e Cancella.
