Van Bree, Heinisch of Racine, WI

Updated January 31, 2003

About Our Family Research

The Van Bree family came to Barton, WI in about 1866. Then they relocated to Racine. The eldest ancestor I can find in my family tree is Theodore Van Bree, Sr. b. 1839, d. 1921. He married a gal named Bertha Kursten (or Kirsten, Kersten). They had 11 children.

There is another Van Bree family which located in Barton around the same time, then eventually moved to Racine also. The parents' names were Gerhard Van Bree and Johannes Van der Grind. This Gerhard is often confused with his son, Gerhard or one of Theodore's sons, Gerhard (my g-grandfather). You'd think they could find a different name!

I am sure these families are related, I just haven't figured out how yet. Do you know?

Anyhow, the other side of my family is the Heinisch side. The furthest back I can find on that side is a guy named Michael Heinisch b.1830, d. 1887 , who married a gal named Theresa Haas.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Also, if you have any information on the following names in or around the Racine, WI area, I'd love to hear from you.
