The Amedeo Basconi Family Of Washington Township, NJ

Updated November 17, 2001

About Our Family Research

Hello my name is Amedeo (Tony)Basconi. I was born in Thornhill, WVa in 1939. I graduated from McComas High School in 1957 and Concord College in 1961. I presently live in Washington Township, New Jersey with my wife of 27 years, Deborah (Reddington) Basconi and three children, Jacqueline, Anthony and Brian. My dad, Elo Basconi was born Feb 1911. He retired in 1973 from Consolidated Coal Company as a chief electrician. My mom, was Enis (Sensi) Basconi, from Ashland, WVa. She was born October 1916. Mom ran Basconi's Place in Thornhill, WWa until 1973 at which time mom and dad moved to New Jersey as all three children had relocated to the New Jersey and Philadelphia area

My brother, Jerry Basconi, (born 1952) lives in Houston, Texas. with his wife of 27 years, Mary Ann(Watt)Basconi. Their three children are Leah, Jerry and Nick. My sister Donna Bary,(born 1942) lives in Williamstown, NJ and has two childres, Tammy McDonald and Lewis (Chip) Bary.

My dad Elo, had one brother, Mario Basconi who lived in Bluefield, WVa and is deceased. Mario's children's are Amelia, Kevin and Ronnie. My only living aunt is, Bennie Fife who lives in Philadelphia and will be 83 years of age in 2001. She was married to James Fife and has three children, Jetty Sparks, Jim and Fred Fife. My Dad's others three sisters were Juanita Silvester, Janice Lanzi and Edith Massaroni all deceased. Juanita's children are, Rene Humes and Madline Forbs. Janice's children are Angela Jones and Joe Lanzi. Edith's children are Virginia Stochi, Preno and Emilio who is deceased.

My grandfather's name was Amadio Basconi, born 1882 in Norcia, Perugia. My grandmother was Amelia (Ventura) Basconi, who was born in 1880. They had plans upon retirement to live the rest of their lives in the country side Italy. For twenty years money was sent towards payment of their dream home. All plans were interuped when Amadio, after 20 years of sending money was on a ship to visit his parents died of a Black Spider infection. Before his death he only had a a chance to visit his wife Amalia relatives in Rome and never again to see his parents or relatives in Norcia, Perguia. Both parents of Amadio died within a year of Amadio death and which is said to have been from grief.

I am in the process of working on a Basconi Family Tree. Our family roots have been traced back to the early 1830's. I expect to distribute this information by Christmas 2001 to all the 3rd and 4th Generation descendants of Davidi Basconi, my great great grandfather and Bernard Basconi, great great grandfather of Mary, Americo, John and Angelo Basconi.

If any Basconi visiting this site would care to share any information please do e-mail me at basconi@aol.com. A site that may be of interest to those individuals growing up in the McComas area:
