The Warrens and Neweys in South Africa

Updated February 18, 2004

About Our Family Research

I have been researching since Christmas when my sister and I met with an aged Aunt who told us about the Newey ancestry. Our great grandfather designed and built many of the bridges in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. Another Aunt then filled in the Warren side of the family. neither Aunt had the complete picture, so I have become interested to continue the research. The farthest back I have gone on the Warren side has been finding that we are related to William de Warrenne, a cousin of William the Conquerer, who was given land in Sussex, England. Our immediate family is in both South Africa and New Zealand.
