Researching Beckworth (Beckwith). Get back to my Great-great grandfather Hansel Sr. as Beckworth's, then start seeing them as Beckwith's. Not sure why there was a change of spelling. A story passed down to my father Bobbie (Bob) Lewis and uncle Hancel A. was that Ananias told them we were descendened from a Thomas Beckworth who came to America from England. Have been able to find a Thomas who came over in 1633 to the Jamestown Colony but he just seems to disappear. All I can find in that area is Beckwith's. The first Beckworth I find is in Marion County, SC. And some places has him listed as a Beckwith. Am willing to share information I have with anyone.
