Includes NotesNotes for Leila P. O'DONNELL:
SCAMMON.

The Passing of Leila Bell.

It may be tritely said that in the midst of health and its fullest enjoyment we are prone to die. No one could have
a longer lease on life than our beloved friend, Leila, seem to have inherited on August 20th.

Stricken with typhoid fever, she was shorn of life's privilege in less than a week, and she is here no more to share
the joys of living, and her cheery smile and jolly voice are forever hushed and still.

Truly we live in the edge of life's uncertainty, and are subject to the call of the grim reaper that ruthlessly cuts off the
pilgrimage of whom he will.

Leila O'Donnell Bell was born at Weir, Kansas, July 2nd, 1895. She was the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick
O'Donnell. Her father died November 1, 1900. On May 29th, 1914, she was married to Richard Bell, both of Scammon, to
whom one child Harold, was born. On August 30, 1920, at the home of her mother, Mrs. Mary O'Donnell, which she was
keeping during her mother's visit at Henryetta, Okla., she succumbed to the ravages of typhoid fever at the age of 25 years,
1 month, 28 days, leaving a husband, son, mother, two sisters and a brother to bewail her untimely end.

The body was interred in Hosey Hill on September 2nd, 1920.

A host of friends feel the loss of a kind, generous, helpful neighbor, and a warm friend, and extend their sympathy to the
bereaved ones in their hour of sorrow.

Leila, thou hast gone, dear heart
And we are sore bereft;
It is so hard to tear apart
Thos ememories you left.
Oh, darling, life can never be,
To us, dear, quite the same!
But we shall fondly think of thee
As we revere thy name.
