Includes NotesNotes for William Broom `Doc' GILLARD:
Ringo--

Suspect Gillard Murdered.

Peculiar Circumstances Surround Death of Central Miners.

Ringo, May 1.--The tragic death of Doc Gillard, one of Ringo's highly respected citizens, caused a shock. Although
his home was located near Mine 48 Central, he as well as his family were well known in Ringo.

Some suspicion exists that he met with foul play and that his body was placed on the tracks in the hope that the night drag
of railroad cars would obliterate the evidence of murder. However, no one feels certain enough to make positive statements.

On the afternoon of Gillard's death, his brother, Tom Gillard, pit boss at Mine 48, asked Doc to assist him in notifying the
men who had been off during the suspension that there would be work at the mines Monday morning. One of the brothers
started in one direction while the other one went in the opposite direction. Doc was seen by several during the afternoon
and as late as 6 o'clock. No trace has been had of his movements after that time.
