I am confident of the research that I have done, and have documented, to trace my ancestors as follows: (beginning with my father): Otie Belcher; George Solomon Belcher; John Martin Belcher...Counting myself, that's only four generations. However, other researchers indicate that John Martin Belcher's father was James Belcher, son of George Belcher, Sr. and either Mary Ann Fugate or Salley Powell. From there other researchers continue back with: Isham E. Belcher, Richard D. Belcher, Sr., John Belcher, Sr., Robert G. Belcher, William Thomas Belcher, Henry Thomas Belcher, William Andrew Belcher, Sr., Edmond Belcher (of Guliborough), John (of Stafford)Belcher, and finally, Hugh Belcher (spouse, Havis Belson).
To hopefully determine whether this is in fact my correct line, back to and including Hugh Belcher, I participated in the DNA Project, in early November, 2005. The results aren't in yet!
