The Jesse Henry Bezners from Jefferson County, New York

Updated August 25, 2005

About Our Family Research

The research on the Bezner family starts with the family of Jesse Henry Bezner Sr. (1847-1919) and Amelia A. Harris (1844-1919)and their three children: Elizabeth May Bezner Spencer (1875-1945); John James Bezner (1878-1934) and Elizabeth A. Hodder (1882-1969) and their eight children; and Jesse Henry Bezner Jr. (1880-1941)and Laura Ann Corey (1880-1947)and their six children; Carl Bezner (1903-1979) and Rose Margaret Houck (1909-1999)and their four children; Gerald Arthur Bezner (1933-)and Martha Adrianna Jimerson (1933-)and their five children.

We have tried to trace the entire families starting with the first generation in this county. We know that Jesse Henry Bezner Sr. was born in Ontario, Canada and came to this county as a young man, speaking French and broken English. He lived in Ellisburg, New York, and then moved to Lorraine, New York, where he had a farm and sawmill.

We recently had a family reunion in Henderson Harbor, New York, with the immediate family of Carl and Rose Bezner. Carolyn Bezner Finley's three daughters--Karen, Ellen and Kathy and families--and four of the five children of Gerald and Martha Bezner's family--Kathy, Patty, Susan and Laura with their children. It was a weekend reunion which included friends of the families, sailing, swimming, dancing and catching up on the lives of each other.

If anyone has genealogy information about this family, please contact Martha Jimerson Bezner at 18175 SE Federal Highway, Tequesta, Florida 33469 or this web page. We have picutues starting with Jesse Henry Bezner Jr. and Laura Ann Corey, and we would like to include pictures that you may have. We are creating a book about our family to preserve our history for the generations to come.

The original research about our family has been done with the original Town Records, visiting the gravesites and reviewing the cemetary records, the Adams Historical Society, the Watertown Library, and memories of Rose Margaret Houck Bezner and Marjorie Cornwell Bezner and more recently using records on the Internet. Any information or pictures would be welcomed.
