This Page has been created to research the family lines of the Bickel - Hill geneology. The Bickel Line is decended to my sons and myself in America from my Great Grandfather John Frederick Bickel who immagrated to America in the late 1880's from Baden where the family had been grape growers in the southern region of Germany.

The Hill decendancy goes back substantially farther to Robert Hill who landed at Isle of Wight, Virginia in 1642 from England. There have been many in our family named after this gentleman of whom I am but one of the latter to be named so.

All who venture here are welcome as this is an ongoing project with much yet to be done and learned. I hope those who venture into this history will find something of interest and value for their own lives and encourage a personal search for the rich history that I have found in tracing my own family.

We don't choose our families - they are the rich fertile ground from which we ourselves find roots and contribute to this world.
