William H. Michel came to the US, at age 14 on 'Shakespeare' on Aug. 20. 1856 to New York from Bremen. He came with older sister, Charlotte, age 19. He lived with family in Cincinnati, volunteered in 1863 in 83rd Regiment of Indiana Co G, at age 21; injured in Civil War; discharged 6/2/1865; settled in Indiana; married Anna Maria Bricka in 1867; had eight children and died April 17, 1910.
