The BISENBERGER - KROMHOUT - McNEILLY - MOORE families

Updated December 21, 2008

About Our Family Research

My researches involve the following names:
McNEILLY (Scotland >> Grenada West-Indies >> USA & Canada);
MOORE (Grenada West-Indies >> Cuba >> USA);
BISENBERGER (Austria, Germany, The Netherlands, USA, other);
KROMHOUT (Provinces of North- & South-Holland in The Netherlands, USA, Canada, Brazil);
ARXHOEK (Provinces of North- & South-Holland area in The Netherlands);
SPIERIEUS (The Netherlands);
VUIJK or VUYK (The Netherlands >> Brazil).
Other names on the list are MOE, TOUISSANT, NYACK, LEEDHAM, BELMA, SLINGER, ALEXIS, GLEAN, LEEDHAM, DE BELLOTTE/BELOT/any spelling (all names mostly in Grenada, West-Indies) and JACKSON (Girvan, Scotland).

I have not found the origins of the McNEILLY branch in Scotland yet. I need help, beginning with, but preferably prior to (brothers?) Alexander & John McNeilly (father William) leaving the Ayr and/or Glasgow area around 1878 for the St.Patrick and St.Andrew parishes in Grenada, West-Indies.
Searching for MOORE relatives is beyond headache; it's a serious migraine. In the USA alone, there are 860.000 Moores.
The name BISENBERGER is a chronic pain since it has been vandalized in dozens of ways.
KROMHOUT is easier, except for Brazil where nobody seems to speak English and all the websites are in Portuguese.

    My mother Jo, who lives in The Netherlands, is 93+ years old and hanging in there. Thank God she's still around.
  • Alexander "Sandy" McNEILLY 1851 or 1852-1924 (13 KB)
    The very first McNeilly in Grenada, West-Indies. He settled and prospered in the Grenville area.
  • Preston Earle MOORE 1897-1967 (37 KB)
    My wife Claudia's maternal grandfather. Notorious for chasing potential sons-in-law out of the yard.
  • Joseph Gerardus BISENBERGER 1913-1994 (33 KB)
    My father Joop. "I should have said thís to him"...."I should have done thát for him"... The painful realization that he's gone, always lingers in the background.
  • Claudia Janette Sylvia MOORE 1946- (39 KB)
    My sweet wife Claudia is the great-granddaughter of Alexander McNeilly, granddaughter of Joanne McNeilly and daughter of A.Elaine Moore. Claudia & I live in Canada.
  • Joanne McNEILLY 1902-1990 (41 KB)
    This is Granny, my wife Claudia's maternal grandmother and wife of Preston Moore; a very wise woman with a razorsharp business mind. Still very much missed.
  • Felicity de BELLOTTE 1858-1942 (35 KB)
    Alexander McNeilly married Felicity some 10 years after they assembled the last of their nine children.
  • Rose-Marie MATHURIN (Néé KING) 1903-2006 (39 KB)
    My wife Claudia's paternal grandmother from St.Lucia, West-Indies. Has been most of her life waiting for her son, who went missing in 1947, to return (see below "MISSING SINCE 1947").
  • My maternal grandparents (20 KB)
    Grandpa Adrianus Kromhout 1891-1961, was a baker and grandma Hendrika van de Geer 1887-1956, was a midwife. They died long before I came to my senses. I never really got to know them. Such a pity.
  • My paternal grandparents, pictured with me in 1965 (26 KB)
    Grandpa Frans R. Bisenberger 1892-1968, the nicest man ever born, was a carpenter. Marie de Wid 1894-1982, was his wife.

    My sister Carla, a funeral home associate, lives in The Netherlands with her husband Bert, a driving school owner. The featured dog recently transferred to the great kennel in the sky.

  • Privacy-obsessed Mr X. (112 KB)
    My son. From his base in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, he pilots B767's for a living. It gives me the creeps every time I think of it.
