The 5 Original Bixler(buchsler) Families of Pa. C.1727...

Updated March 27, 2002

About Our Family Research

A documented journey into the History and origin of the Bixler name, which overturns all the prior published and anectdotal histories to date. Concentrating on the 3 Bixler families that settled in the first lands in Pa., west of the Susquehanna.(Springettsbury Manor)in York Cty.It was here c1730 that Christian, John and Michael Bixler bought their first land.adjacent to each other. The other 2 families settled in different areas of Pa.Peter(to America-Ship Friendship 1727) settled near Reading Pa. and Christian (Ship Adventure 1727)Lancaster Cty Pa. Cocalico Twp.Pa.After 10 years of research and the discovery of documents found that had been missing for many years, the documentation exists to prove that our name of origin is Buchsler(notBICHSEL) We arrived in America from Engelsbrand,Darmstadt or Pirmassens in Germany. The works of Richard Warren Davis, linking the Eggivil Switz. Bichsels to the original Pa. families is flat out incorrect..The work of Agnes Bixler Kurtz purportedly based on the work of Uriah Bixler and his son Edward is very strange indeed since she never ever saw Uriahs original work.I have researched these 5 Bixler families as thoroughly as possible for the last decade, and hopefully will be of help to future Bixler genealogists.
