| THE GOFFS: The earliest referral in the census records is that of 1900. Listed in this census was widower Julius Goff, born June of 1852. He was head of household to eight children (Julius E., Samuel D., Wilburn C. Isaiah S., Ella J., Lorenzo C., Carie A.., and McLaurin).Unfortunately, this is where the researcher runs into a block. This family of Goffs could not be located in the 1880 census for Horry County and though stories have it that the Goff's moved to Horry from somewhere else, we don't know where the somewhere else is! I've been stumped in my research for the past two years in geting any further for a couple of reasons. I don't know the parent names of the Gerralds or the Goffs. A start could be made with Ellen Gerralds maiden name, or Helen's. THE GERRALDS: Research has been done on the Gerrald Family back to the 1870 census. The head of households at this time were Allen and Ellen Gerrald. One of the daughters of Allen and Ellen, Gussie Overtis Gerrald, married the son of Ava and Helen Goff, Julius. The 1870 census indicated that Allen, aged 29, and Ellen, aged 25, were husband and wife. Allen's occupation was farmer, and Ellen's homemaker. They ad a child Sara Jane, aged 3 months. Both Allen and Ellen are listed in tehe 1880 census, however, by 1900 only Ellen was listed. It was noted that she had given birth to nine children, six of which were living at home at the time of the census (Viola, Ida, Postella, Charley and Gilbert). By 1910 Ellen lived with her 17 year old married daughter Overtis Gussie (d. 1953) and her husband Julius Goff (d. 1935). Gussie and Julius had only one child at this time, her name was Lela and she was two years old. The 1920 census listed Ellen as still alive and living with Gussie and Julius, who by then had a totla of six children (Lela, Charlie, Genetha, Jenetta, Senetha a.k.a. "Babe" and Lacey). Not yet born were Julius, and Armatha. THE BULLOCKSThe Bullocks and Gerralds are connected in many generations. These two families intermarried repeatedly creating many double and triple cousins in the two familys. In the first generation of Lewis Bullock and Rose Granger produced Henry "D", Priscilla, Lee, Milton, Adaline, Rose Allie and Mantha. Both Henry "D" and Mantha married Gerrald siblings Zilpha-Ida and Postella. In addition to Henry "D" and Mantha, the Bullocks also produced Priscilla, Lee, Milton, Adaline, and Rose Allie. It has been said that the Bullocks originated in North Carolina and relocated to South Carolina. In information relating to this would be helpful.ABOUT THE AUTHORI am the daugher of Sarah Elizabeth Goff, daughter of Charlie Goff and Lois Jarrott!
