I am researching the Blevin(s) family from the coal mining areas of Wales. My people arrived in the America's early to mid 17th centry in and around several different ports. Some of the known ports were various New England ports, the port of Baltimore, the Carolina ports and the ports of Virginia. From these arriving / landing ports my Blevin(s) family ended up settling into the New River valley of Virginia and then on to Kentucky, Tennessee and Ohio.
The Burk, Birk, Burks, and Burke families were also from the coal mining regions of Wales and they arrived about the same time as the Blevin(s) families. The busiest ports were Baltimore and the various Carolina ports. They later settled in the New River valley and then on to Kentucky, mostly Pike, Floyd, Johnson and Lawrence counties.
