The Blissit Family of Texas

Updated September 3, 2003

About Our Family Research

The Blissit Family of Texas originated when Millard Filmore Blissit and wife, Nancy Geneva Milford traveled to North Texas circa 1900 by wagon from Northern Mississippi. Sons Jerome, Orman, and Luther, born in Mississippi accompanied the couple. Sons Arthur and Clyde were born in Texas. My father, Arthur, was born in Hill County, Texas in 1905. The couple was accompanied by two sisters, Henrietta and the other unidentified, assumed to be Blissit. Daughters Elizabeth, Clarance, Sibbie, Althea, and Carrie accompanied the parents or were born after the arrival in Texas. The family traveled to South Texas where they settled to farm land around Sinton and Calallen just north of Corpus Christi, Texas. Research indicates that the Blissit family originated in Alabama, with Millard accompanying his Mother and Father to farm in Northern Mississippi.
