We have a family reunion in Arnold Park,Arnold, Mo. every year at the end of August. This year it will be August 14th. We are looking for information regarding the members of this large family which began in Spillville,Iowa in and around 1850. Our ancestors came here from a place in France, close to the Austrian border. The Ethnicity is Bohemian, Czech,Hungarian, french or Dutch depending on who you talk to. The town of Spillville was settled in 1854 and Vitus Payer moved to St Louis, Mo. in 1899, other members of the family I've been told went to Illinois, Missouri and other parts of Iowa. The Names of the members of the family that I am trying to trace are Mathias Payer married to Teresa, Frank Payer, Albert Payer, sons of Teresa and Mathias. Joseph Payer, Francis or Frank may be the same person. My grandfather was named Alois (Louis)Payer and he was born in Spillville, Iowa to a Maria and Vitus(Viti) or Victor Payer, Pajer, or even Paiur depending on how people spelled it on different record. Victor Payer believed he was born in France. LaSace Lorraine or town of Lorraine. My Grandfather had many brothers and one sister named Anne. Several family members lived in St Louis and many are buried here. Any information would be helpful!
