Genealogy of Bokotey, Szentimrey, Rozsar & Zirnsak Families

Updated August 22, 2006

About Our Family Research

This work is still ongoing and has never been finished... The families mentioned in the title of my home page belong to my grandparents. As far as I know, the family of my father, the Bokotey family has Rusin (Ruthenian)origin and derived from Karpatian (now Ukraine) region, from village Bilky, that's why the members of this family were famous and well known as Bilky's Bokoteys and they mostly worked and are working now as a teacher, some of them as director of school or as the rector of university, as clegyman, as artist, as businessman, as engineer or scientist (computer scientist, biologist, chemist). The majority of the members of Bokotey's family besides Rusin, Ukrainian and Russian languages used to speek Hungarian inside the family as well or understood this language at "acceptable" level. It is not realy the case today for the members of the family are living in Ukraine...

The family of my mother has completely Hungarian origin and derived from Csik-Szentimre in Transilvania (today Romania). The Szent-Imrey's (Szentimrey or Szentimrei) family has almost 1000 years history and family tree what was a main subject of my past 6 years work. The members of this well known Nobel family were mostly landlords, farmers, counsellors of Hungarian Kings, clegymen, lifers, lawyers, government's executive eployees. They had several mansions and country-seats (castles) on the northern and north-eastern part of Hungary before Trianon, unfortunately, today these regions belong to Hungary (Borsod-Abauj-Zemplen and Heves branches), Slovakia (a part of former Zemplen or Zemplin branch), Ukraine and Romania (former Ung and Maramaros branches). Due to the Trianon which was followed by 50 years of communism era, only a very few properties and only in Abauj branch survived...

The origin of Zirnsak family (my farther's mother family) is unambiguously German, but the living place of the ancestors of my grandmother were on the today's territory of Slovakia, Ukraine and Romania.

The Rozsar family (my mother's mother family) lived in Vizkelet (near Galanta)in Slovakia today. The majority of the members of this family were teachers and farmers.
