In Texas, James, a white bookeeper from Ga. united with Sally, a slave from Tn. They had 5 children, Army Gertrude (1860-1952), Robert, Missouri (1875-?), Dora (1879-?)and James Matt (1881-1976). Army Gertrude had 12 children, Robert none, Missouri 9 children, Dora 5 children, James Matt 6 children. James died in 1881 and Sally died in 1936 at 98 years old.
In 1835, Paul and Margaret Hyman united. The family spent time in North Carolina and Texas. They had 23 children. During the Civil war, Paul was taken by the union army to the north and forced to cook for them. We can only find information on Lovina, George, Ellen, Anne L., Martha, Joanne, Lillie and William. Paul died in the early 1900's.

Before 1865 there are no records of names because blacks were kept as numbers.
