LEDORA COUCH BOONE

Ledora Couch Boone was my grandmother. I remember her and her second husband after the death of my grandfather Lem White Boone in 1938. She was the daughter of Thomas and Drucilla Wiley Couch. She was born in Cabot, Lonoke County, Arkansas, but moved to the city of Lonoke early in her life. She was the second child and second daughter of Thomas and Drucilla Wiley Couch's four children. Her father was a cashier and banker for the Central Bank of Arkansas. Her siblings were older sister Pauline, younger brothers Wiley and William Jr. She was educated in the Lonoke Public Schools at the time of her future father-in-law, Daniel Ratcliffe Boone was superintendent. She excelled in music and was an accomplished pianist, trained at the Cincinatti Music Conservatory as a young woman. Below are various articles appearing in the Lonoke Democrat News in its early years.
