Came from Caernarvoushire, Wales to South Hampton County, Virginia by Boddie. Dr. James Amescarp Boykin came from Kent, England in 1684. Dr. Ames was professor of Johns Hopkins University and researcher of the Boykin family. He says there are 10,000 descendants from the first Edward Boykin, born 1650 or 1655, died 1728/ He came to Isle of Wight County in 1678 - wife Anne.
He came to Isle of Wright County in 1678 or before, died 1728. Made will 1725-26, probabated 1728.

"To all whereas now known ye that I, the said Francis Lord Howard Greer and Company do with the advice and consent of the counsel of State accordingly give and grant unto Edward Boykin five hundred twenty-five acres of land situated between the third swamp and the main Blackwater beginning at a pine, Mr. Williamson's corner tree thence by his line north forty-one degrees, east two hundred sixty-six pole to a red oak, thence northwest by west three hundred and twenty pole to a red oak by the edge of Pocason, thence south forty-one degrees west two hundred and forty-two poles to a pine and white oak saplin in M.E. Thomas Moores line, and by his line south forty-six pole to a white oak and southeast by east two hundred and twenty power poles to the first the said land being due by and for the transportation of eleven persons into this colony to have and to hold. To be held yeilding and paying dated this twentieth day of April, 1685."
