The Bormuth's from Hessen and Baltimore

Updated December 7, 2000

About Our Family Research

I have the complete line from Hans Bormuth, who lived about 1600 in Gadernheim/Odenwald/Hessen, his son Peter, born 1612/13 in Kolmbach/Odenwald, down to Johann Bormuth, born 27.8.1754 in Kolmbach and d. 15.10.1821 in Fürth/Odenwald. One of his children, Johann Philipp, born 3.11.1799 in Brombach/Odenwald went to USA. He arrived in Baltimore on 24.9.1844 on the ship Katherine Jackson from Rotterdam. His wife was Elizabeth Haverstrom or similar. Their children were: Peter (born around 1832), John (born around 1835), Philip (born around 1838), Catherine (born around 1842) and Joseph (born Febr. 1851 in Baltimore). John married Catherine Edder in 1857.
Joseph married Catharine Grossmann in 1874).
Another son of Johann Bormuth, born 27.8.1754, was Wilhelm Bormuth, born around 1805, d. 4.12.1874 in Fürth/Odenw. He is my great-great-grandfather. This one is the katholic line of Bormuths.
Other surnames are Frank (Odenwald), Wegel (Thüringen), Geyer (Thüringen), Eisenhauer (Odenwald), Schmidt (Thüringen), Schmitt (Odenwald).
I use the german writing of dates: Day-month-year
