| Hello. I am looking for ancestors in all the roots of my family tree. They include Bosche(e), Martel(l), Herr, Spitzer, Heupal, and Schnabel, all of whom come from the Glueckstahl Colonies (Glueckstahl and Kassel, in particular) of Russia. And Olsen, Fordahl, Volden, and Peterson from Norway. Due to several misspellings/variations of the surnames, as well as the first names, I have unified spelling based on the most common version. A hard 'c' becomes 'k', while the letter 'e' at the end of a woman's name becomes 'a'. I have dates going back as early as 1769, but can't seem to get past that. As I no longer have access to a PC, I can't use Family Tree Maker to post GEDCOM files for updates. I will, over the course of the next few weeks (with any luck), use the web based tree as an alternative. Hopefully, this will also inspire a better exchange of information. As it is right now, I have most of it on an Excel spreadsheet, if anyone is interested in that format. Additionally, I am looking for a Mac based program, if anyone might be interested in sharing. Thanks! Happy hunting. David M Boschee |
