Tommy D. Bourlier, Petersburg, Virginia

About Our Family Research

The Bourlier's of my family are decendants of James and Mary (Morel) Bourlier, who came from France to Ohio, then settled in Nemaha County, Nebraska. They Americanized their names from Jacques and Marie. They came from the Colombier Fountaine area of France. His son Emil moved to Custer Oklahoma in the late 1800's. Emil's son Tommy (known as Thomas) was raised in the Custer area. He is my Grandfather. His son Walter was born in the Custer area in 1902 (my father) and lived there all of his life (except a few years in Clovis, New Mexico). I was born in 1942 and was raised in the Custer area as well. I joined the Army in 1963. My children include Brendon Bourlier of Nashua New Hampshire, Bona Bourlier of Gaithersburg, Maryland, and Jonathan Bourlier of Petersburg Virginia. My son Bryan Patrick Bourlier died at birth in 1968. Brendon and his wife Jennifer have presented me with my first Granddaughter Catherine Lea Bourlier in 1999. She was born on 24 April, my father's birthday. My father died 3 years earlier. They also gave me a Grandson, Nicholas Bryan Bourlier born 9 October,2001. I settled in Petersburg Virginia in 1974 and have worked for the U.S. Army at Fort Lee, to the present date. The Bourlier's in Oklahoma have reunions ever so often, but I am unaware of any scheduled at this time.
