This research includes the Boxley family descended from a group that left Virginia and took up life in Missouri and Oklahoma. It also currently traces related lines Hall, Traill, Trayle, Trail, Balfour, and Sperry, and is likely to grow. There are currently 500+ connections made, ranging back as far as the 1200's in Scotland. The oldest Boxley connection is the 1600's, with the advent of Joseph Boxley buying land in Virginia. The record of their crossing doesn't seem to exist, but because of the name, they may have been part of a group that came across with the Wyatts, who were the Lords of the area around Boxley, England, and who came across to be the Governor of Roanoke for brief a period. The Wyatts were a rebellious bunch and were responsible for the Peasant's Rebellion ("When Adam delved, and Eve span, who was then the gentleman"), so America would have been an appropriate place for some of their ilk.
