Looking for the orphan skippers (actually placed under guardianship) in Henry Co. Alabama. Thomas Craddock was appointed guardian over James M. Skipper's estate dated 1849-1859 in Henry County, Alabama case 1970, Box 22, File 37. Heirs were William J.M. Skipper, son, Mary Jane Skipper, daughter, and Jane Skipper aka Anna Jane Craddock (Widow). The Skipper, Craddock, Carter, Lusas families are all linked together as neighbors and relatives. Of particular interest to me is James Skipper's father who left an estate that was in the court system for years. Search includes a marriage to Martha "Patsy" Carter . Not certain of whose marriage but Mr. Skipper's land bordered Carter, Lucas and Craddocks. I don't have all the facts (or I can't seem to get them straight) but between the Skippers, carters and craddocks, children and land seem to be in the court system for YEARS!!!. My 2nd great grandfather was Wm.J.M.Skipper 8-12-1849, and I am trying to determine if he is the same???? any help would be greatly appreciated. Ann
