I've been researching my families for almost 14 years now. These are families from my mother's side of the family.
Which include Taylor of Ky, Scioto Co. (Portsmouth) & Ross Co., Lawrence Co. (Ironton, Pioneer Furnace) Ohio and my lines ended up moving to Muncie, Delaware County Indiana.
The Howe line were in Clark Co. Ky, Greenup Ky, Portsmouth Scioto Co. Ohio and they to came to Muncie, Delaware County Indiana.
The above lines were the families of my great grandparents Raymond Augusta Taylor and his wife Bernice H. (Howe). Ray's parents were William Henry Harrison "Will" Taylor III. and his wife Louisa Ann (Cooper). William H.H. Taylor III. was the son of William H.H. Taylor Jr. & Josephine (Swope), William H.H. Taylor Jr. was the son of William H.H. Taylor Sr. & Elizabeth Rhoda (McCollister or McCallister). Louisa Ann (Cooper)was the daughter of Elbert Cooper and Martha Jane (Reeves). Martha Jane (Reeves) was the daughter of John Reeves and Elizabeth (Longmire). Not proven by me yet but think that Elbert Cooper might be the son of Joseph Cooper & Elizabeth (Chiles or Child)? The Cooper and Reeves were from Campbell Co Tn. and came to Monroe twp. Madison Co. Indiana and Muncie Delaware Co. Indiana. The Taylor's came to Muncie, Delaware Co. Indiana from either Scioto Co. (Portsmouth) Ohio or Pioneer Furnace/Ironton Lawerance Co. Ohio between 1887-1895.
Bernice's parents were George Oliver Howe and Lavina (Smith) Howe-Acton-Thornbro or Thornbrough-Sheets. Both their families were from the Greenup Ky and Portsmouth Ohio areas. George Oliver Howe was the son of Samuel Edward Howe aka Edward Samuel Howe and wife Eveyln (Osborn). Some researchers have it that Samuel was married 4 times (1st Lucinda Boyd, 2nd Rebecca Taylor, 3rd Necitie F., and then 4th Evelyn (Osborn). I'm researching these now to clarify it). Samuel Edward Howe was the son of Jacob Howe and Jane (Alexander). These families were in Clark Co Ky, Greenup Ky and I think they were in Scioto Co Ohio to then came to Muncie, Delaware Co. Indiana and possible in Madison Co Indiana. Bernice's mother Lavina (Smith) Howe was married a total of 4 times but only had children with her 1st husband George O. Howe. Lavina was the daughter of Charles V. Smith & Mary (Timberlake). Charles was the son of William Smith and Cela or Sarah (Unknown). These families were also in Greenup Ky. and then came to Muncie, Delaware Co. Indiana. This family had a tremendous tragic murder happen in it. Charles V. Smith was murdered by his youngest child Benjamin Harrison Smith. This took place in Muncie, Delaware Co. Indiana on November 17, 1910. I have been able to obtain newspaper clippings from the paper (13 articles in all) and also have been able to obtain prison records for the son's conviction which included a 5x7 mug shot of him. He was sentenced to life in prison at the age of 21. Almost a year after he murdered his father (1911) he hung himself from his cell. The out come of the trail concluded that the reason for this senseless murder was that the father Charles had come back from town with his wife and daughter (was picking daughter up by wagon from work in Muncie). Upon returning there had been a arguement between the father and son earlier in the day the father wanted the boy to get a job and pay for his food and board. When the father returned home he let the daughter and mother out at the house and took the wagon and horse to the barn. The son was waiting on him they had words and the son took a monkey wrench and beat the father in the head put him in a wagon and drove him to a farm and put him down a well. (He was still alive). Then he returned home and made up a story that he seen "Highway men" get in his father's wagon and he never seen them again. The son broke the next day and took them to where his father was. So so sad!
I have tin type pictures (29 in total) that my Great Grandma Bernice (Howe) Taylor gave me before her death in 1996. She was 92
