Searching for Slauenwhite family members has been an amazing experience. My father died when I was three, the youngest of three. We lived some distance from his family so, early in life I lost touch with my father's family. My memories of their occasional visits are vague. One of my fondest and strongest memories is of a visit to my father's younger sister Muriel and her husband Irven Smith. A city girl, it was wonderful to run wild in the country with my cousins Lee, Larry, and Lloyd. I didn't want to go home.
A trip to Maine in 2000 reunited me with my Aunt Muriel. It was a fantastic vacation, made more so by a visit to Oakfield and the discovery of my large extended family. It was as if I was in the middle of a historic epic adventure. My aunt Muriel gave me a geneolgy prepared around 1980 by my great aunt, Maggie Boutilier. I am now trying to locate the missing information and bring it up to date. Looks like it is going to be a monumental task since the Slauenwhites are prolific and the records go back to 1752.
