Our family came from Adraha, co Donegal, and the first emigrated to Australia in the early 1860's, to join the Gold Rushes, migrating to New Zealand 10 years later. Other family members followed suit, over a staggered period of time. Eventually, a large Boyd settlement evolved in Kaikoura, Marlbrough, New Zealand. They first went whaling in Kaikoura, then became Dairy Farmers. Many are today, supplying to the local Cheese Company. There is still strong Boyd prescence in the town.
