George Wilderman, Sr (son of Jacob Wilderman, Sr) was born Abt. 1750 in Washigton Co. Maryland, and died date unknown.

George and Patience (Dorsey) Wilderman came to Illinois in 1805 with eleven of their 13 children, one having left their family while they were living in Ohio, and he (John) was never heard of afterwards. Levi, the youngest was born on Turkey Hill, St. Clair County IL. Frank walked back to Pennsylvania where they had lived for a while to marry his sweetheart, but for some reason they were never married, and he and a man named Stuntz walked back to Illinois. Frank never married. All of the rest of the family married and raised families. Records of Jacob's and Henry's families are only certified by their wills to be found in the Belleville Court House. The names of the remainder of the family are as follows; Elizabeth, George, James, Dorsey,Micah, Sarah, Joseph, William and Levi. The family settled southeast of the present city of Belleville, IL. In a historic location called Turkey Hill, so named by the indians. Here, all that were old enough entered land and much of this land is still in the hands of their descendents. George St. was of German descent and his wife Patience was English. He and his father Jacob, had both served in the Revolutionary War. (Taken from notes compiled by Roberta B. (Shook) Boyett

George and Patience Wilderman sold all of their property in Maryland about 1793 and moved to Franklin, Fayette Count Pa. In 1800 they lived close to Perter Hill Sr. Who married one of their daughters Elizabeth about 1805. Goerge and Patience Wilderman with Peter and Elizabeth Hill and most of Peter's sisters, came to Il Territory, settling in Turkey Hill IL, St. Clair County. They traveled down the Ohio river by flatboat stopping off long enough in Ohio to plant and harvest crop before continuing their journey. One of Peter's sisters, Nancy, was to later marry Goerge and Patience's son George Wilderman Jr. George Wilderman Sr. is listed as, "Squatter in Territorial Il" No. 287 22 Dec 1807. His tract of land was, "situate joining Jacob Short on the WEst, Jacob Carr on the South and Henry Sharp on the north." Permission was granted 8 Jan. 1808 for 320 acres.
