Daniel Shook (son of Lawrence Shook) was born Abt. 1775 in Maryland, and died Bet. 1820 - 1836.

CAme to Illinois in 1797 with brother Solomon. Settled in St. Clair County. Migrated with the "Badgley Group" west to New Design Settlement in Indiana Territory (now Monroe Co. Il.) in 1797.

Paid taxes in Monroe County in 1816.
Registered Stock marks in Monroe County in 1816-1818.
Served on Grand Jury in Monroe County in July of 1817.

On Nov 19, 1798 at Cahokia (Which is the Mississippi riover valley about 20 miles (32 Kilometers) southeast of St. Louis Mo.) Daniel and Thomas Borer registered a claim for 400 acres of first rate farm land.

In 1813, Daniel Shook was listed as grand juror # 18 in a list of 24 in the court of Common Pleas at Cahokia.

An early history says, Daniel Shook "carried on a blacksmith shop and farm. Joseph, Benjamin and Jacob were his sons. Solomon Shook was a brother of Daniel.

Daniel signed a petitionon Dec 12th 1804 as a resident of St Clair County asking preemption on purchase of settlers lands. Signed a petition in 1806 asking for the division of the Indiana Territory and the admission of slaves.

Daniel Shook and Elizabeth Noel were married by the Rev. Valentine Powers.
