Jonas Shook (son of Samuel Shook) was born 09 May 1805 in St. Clair County IL, and died 14 Jan 1889.

In 1837 Jonas and Polly moved to Wiota, Lafayette County Wi. Before leaving St. Clair County he fought
in the Winnebago Indian war, (1827) He was in Andrew Bankson's company of Mounted Rifelmen (Claim # 72879-120-55 in the National Archives). In 1881 he was living in MOnroe, Green County Wi.

Jonas and Polly's Graves are marked with an 11 ft tall granite monument.
