James Milton Neal and Vaney Turner were married April 8, 1846 in Knox County, Tennesse. Callaway Warwick & A.V. Brown signed the Marriage Bond. They are found in the 1850 census in Knox County, Tennessee listed as Milton Neil & Syloand with 2 children.
James & Vaney (Turner) Neal came from Knox County, Tennessee to Upton Township,Texas County, Missouri, with their 8 living children in 1859. Two children had possibly died in Tennessee because they did not come with their parents. They traveled with Vaney's sister's family. Dempsey & Sarah (Turner) Fielden.

David was born in St. Louis, Missouri and died during the Civil War of congestive chill in Rolla, Phelps County, Missouri. Annie raised the children in Texas County, Missouri.
