About Our Family Research

*** The Brinsfield side ending twentieth century ***

The Brinsfield's, of this line were self employed as farmers watermen (Peter was a sailboat captain late 1800's), Spry and Father George also worked in circus's and had a Merry-go-round concession during 1920's and 30's. Spry also owed and operated a truck hauling business, in which he drove a milk route for pet milk in the morning hours, seven days a week for twenty years without a vacation or time off. He also farmed, and traded in real estate.
PETER BRINSFIELD of the late nineteenth century married MATILDA MEDDERS who's father was the sheriff of Chestertown Maryland during 1800's. Peter and Matilda were large framed, not fat, and tall over six foot. they had five or six living children, a boy, George, and the rest were daughters. Two other boys died in enfancy. Margarette and Edna and George were tall (over six foot) and large boned, staturesque people. Lionel and ethel Barrymore as well as wallace Berry, the actors, resembled the Brinsfield's in stature and looks. Peter is buried in Chesterville maryland cemetery. Peter was said to have come from the lower Eastern Shore, Dorchester, Talbot or such.

HYRAM OREM was married to ELEZEBETH COLEMAN and they owned and operated a country store at Pond Town Maryland in QA county around the turn of the century 1800/1900.
Hyram was a small framed man a little over five foot. Elezebeth is buried at Crumpton Cemetery.

*** The Bouchelle side ending in twentieth century ***

JEANETTE BOUCHELLE and brother STANLEY BOUCHELLE were raised in cecil co early 1900's. Jeanette had a beautiful singing voice and was skilled at embroidering, tating, etc. She was about 5'2" tall. However she suffered with Multiple Sclerosis from about the age of forty or perhaps sooner. This was a time before it was a readily recognized disease. Her mother and father JOSEPH BOUCHELLE and wife LULU BOULDEN died of tuberculosis when Jeanette was about eight years old about 1920. She and Stanley were then raised by Joseph Bouchelle's brother Hindman (uncle Henny) and Lulu's sisters Mame and Nette BOULDEN. All stood about 5 foot or a few inches taller. They were farmers and hunting guides. Note: Joseph (son of Charles Bouchelle)and brothers Hindman and Hamal Bouchelle were orphaned as boys and raised by Lambert Boulden ( father of Lulu Boulden).

Joeseph Bouchelle's Father CHARLES BOUCHELLE was married to AMELIA PIERCE whose parents were JAMES PIERCE and SUSAN BAILEY. Joe's grandfather THOMAS BOUCHELLE was married to MARY BAYARD all of cecil county Md.

Lulu Boulden's father LAMBERT BOULDEN was married to HANNAH PRICE Whose parents were MARCELUS PRICE and MARY ANNE RICHARDSON early 1800's. Lamberts father RICHARD BOULDEN was married to MARY ANNE HERRINGTON early 1800's.
The Boulden's were well to do land owners and farmers. It was said that Lambert loved to gamble and drink and live high and lost much of his wealth.

*****The older Bouchelle generations always talked of being decendants of AUGUSTINE HERMAN or so I recall. This might be confirmed as I see that surnames of BOUCHELLE, BAYARD, PIERCE and BAILEY are all in the decendant line of AUGUSTINE HERMAN.

AUGUSTINE HERMAN, born about 1605-20 came to America in early1600's and was the first naturalize citizen of Maryland. He was a surveyer and was granted very large land grants in the upper eastern shore of Maryland and Delaware. Much can be learned of AUGUSTINE HERMAN on the web at URL below

I was told that my heratage also linked to the Indians of the Eastern seaboard but know little more at present. I have wondered if DNA testing could confirm such.

NOTE: All my ancestors that I knew had green or blue eyes. Note also there were tribes of green eyed Indian
