About Our Family Research

Some years ago during the second third of the 19th century, our foreparents, David and Jennsi were born. We do not know the exact whereabouts of thier births, where they met or the circumstances around which they fell in love.
What we do know; they were born in America during slavery, each to one free and one enslaved parent. David was of very dark complexion and had straight black hair. Thus, he were referred to as a "dark-skinned" mulatto. Jennsi had distinct European features, and so, was called a "light-shinned" mulatto.
This young couple was most industrious, so much so that by the end of slavery, they has saved enought money from straw weaving and marketing to purchase 300 acres of land, directly next to the land of thier former slave owner, William Brittian, in Meriwether County, Greenville, Georgia.
By 1872, these proud parents had eleven childrens. Elijah, Rebecca, Frank, Walter, Allen, Sallie, Colline, Isaiah, Ella, Green, and Donne. Two years later Robert was born. They continued giving birth intil 1878, by which time Yomme and Tale were born.
When young Robert (Pappa Bob) married the beautiful Dolly Harris, the two of them remained on the farm with Jennsi. To thier union were born eleven childrens: Ezekeil, Rebecca, Isaiah, Warren, Jesse (grandfather), Emma, Lizzie Mae, Rocelious, Daisy, and Sallie Bee.
The Descendants of Robert and Dolly Brittian will host thier 21st Family reunion 31 May-5 Jun 2002 in San Diego, Ca. For 2002, solicitation for all descendants of David & Jennsi Brittian are extended to share in this memorable "coast-to-coast" Brittian Family Reunion.
