John Ashbrook arrived in Philadelphia Oct. 1682, on the ship Antelope from Belfast. I descend from John as follows:
John > Aaron > Moses > James L. > Matilda > William > John Hooker > Luther.
James Ashbrook appears on Pulaski Co. tax records Aug. 24, 1808 as a male older than 21. He married Christina Fry April 23, 1811 in Wayne Co., KY. According to Pulaski Co. records, Matilda married John Elliott May 9, 1839. But the next record that I can locate for Matilda is the 1850 Russell Co., KY census using the surname Ashbrook. She is living next to her father, James with son William, age ten, and twins, a nephew and niece, age 1 month, John Wesley Ashbrook and Nancy W. Ashbrook. William is the father of John Hooker Ashbrook, my great grandfather.

My Flanagan line in Russell Co. begins with John Flanagan arriving by 1810 settling on 100 acres on Lily Creek. From "The Cemeteries Under Lake Cumberland and Russell Co. Kentucky Death Records" John is listed as 85 year old widower, farmer, no birthplace listed, Resident of Russell Co, died October 26, 1857 of Old Age, Parent listed as Bryant Flanagan. John's son, Bryant owned a farm on Caney Creek near the old Clear Creek Fork Church of which Milly was a member. Like his father, Mason was a farmer. Daniel, Mason's son, was both a farmer and a teacher at Jabez school. Daniel's son, Browder was a farmer and mail carrier and served during WW 1, Sgt. 5th Co. Coastal Artillery.
