James and Hanna nee Collie Briggs came to the United States via New Orleans on a wooden vessel from England. Relatives must be living in England but do not know who. Also I have heard that a brother of James settled in the U.S. and had a family here. James and Hanna had children Helen, George, Sam, Tom, Elizabeth , Jack and perhaps another child. James and Hanna are interned in the cemetary in Greensburg, Ks. along with some of their children. On the way to Ks., James and son - George left the family in La. and went up the river to St. Louis, Mo. where they went west and settled in Kiowa County, Ks. They homesteaded some property there and went to Oklahoma Territory and had a truck farm in Ft. Supply, Ok. They then came back to Kiowa County and lived there until his death in 1935. Hanna had preceded him in death as did a son, Sam and the young child Jack. Looking for any information about previous family and ones that may have settled here also. On the trip from New Orleans to Kansas, Hanna and the remainder of the children lived near Jackson, Ms. (?) until James returned and brought his family back to Kansas.
